Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy lived in Glen Ellyn the city of Illinois, up until she was in junior college. The family also lived in Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at the American School. Amy has two sisters, Betsy and Lori, as well as a brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe as a family member and independently. Both of her parents worked as teachers so they could spend the entire summer camping together and travel all across the United States. They have been camping in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy traveled to Rwanda in 1994 following the war to assist with relief efforts. Amy was an accomplished actor in school plays and also won writing contests. In high school, she was a promising athlete who finished in the very first 3200 meter relay at the Illinois girls track. In college, after an injury, she returned to the stage with a variety of roles on stage beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" as well as directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) in the year of cum laude, with an A.A. East Asian history, with the concentration in Theater. She moved to Chicago following graduation and began studying Improv at the Improv Olympic as well as acting in the theater at The Actor's Center. Soon after graduating, she was offered a permanent on the soap opera Another World (1964). The category she was nominated for is "Outstanding supporting actress in the Daytime Drama Series", she has been nominated to Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable of her roles include of strong women in the roles of Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen in Peacemakers (2003) alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson is currently living in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), as well as being part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue her passions on film and writing.
